Dal baati choorma - Foodholic

Good Evening!!

Let us make your taste buds tingle today. Rajasthani food is incomplete without the epic Dal-Baati-Churma. Sounds delicious ? Wait till we describe it..

Baatis : Baatis or flaky round breads are usually baked over chulhas in villages. But for us modern folks, Baatis can be baked in tandoor and OTG as well. But what makes them stand apart in terms of taste and makes them finger licking good is that irrespective of their cooking technique , they are always served dipped in ghee.

Dal : The baatis are served with a delicious lentil. It is called a panchmel dal , made from a mixture of 5 daals. The dal is cooked with ample amounts of  ghee, the masalas in the dal are fried in ghee and more ghee is mixed into the dal before serving. Usually , along with daal , Green chilies enrobed in a delectable spicy masala cooked in a typical Jaipuri or Rajasthani style called tapori , is also often served.

Choorma : When baatis are made , a part of the dough is left unsalted. This unsalted dough is then shaped into rounds and deep fried in ghee. Later these deep fried baatis are crushed and sugar or jaggery is mixed into them to make a sweet dessert- churma. The combination of daal baati choorma is absolutely heavenly and a must try for food lovers. Yummilicious.... isnt it? :) I hope you enjoyed reading it !

See you all soon !
